Ventilation for Smoke and Smell

DEALING WITH MOXIBUSTION CHALLENGES

Ventilation for Smoke and Smell

Moxibustion is a very superior treatment method, either in clinic or at home. The biggest challenges are the smoke and the smell. That’s why 95% of the clinics are not performing moxibustion. Even with some of the clinics that claim that they do provide moxibustion, a lot of them can only use a little as a supplementary method.

To do it at home, you need good ventilation to suck the air/smoke out. In the summertime, you can do it in the garage with the garage door lifted about 1 foot high. Please make sure you are not exposed to the wind or coldness or dampness directly. Some more professional equipment can be installed at home, similar to a kitchen ventilation machine, with a pipe going outside.

Minor smoke from moxibustion is good for health. But if there is too much smoke, you need to cover your nose and mouth to prevent too much burnt herbal oil or smoke from going into your lungs.

The smell after moxibustion is like that of marijuana. I find that about 1/3 of the population really likes the smell. About 1/3 really hates the smell, and another 1/3 is just neutral to it.
